The Tom Lee Poetry and Spoken Word Contest is an annual contest recognizing outstanding poetry and spoken word inspired by the qualities of courage, generosity and humanity exemplified by Tom Lee. Shelby County students in grades 9th through 12th are invited to create original poems or spoken word pieces inspired by these values.

Winners will be awarded cash prizes and recognized on May 8 — the anniversary of Tom Lee’s heroic rescue.
