chickasaw heritage park

In the historic French Fort district, home to the original home of the only museum in the entire world dedicated to fine metalwork, the Metal Museum, is Chickasaw Heritage Park. This 17-acre park, formerly the fortress of Chickasaw Chief Chisca, contains two ceremonial mounds built in the 1500s by Paleo-Indians. The park was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997, now balanced with an artistic, contemporary painted basketball court courtesy of Project Backboard.
