Mississippi River Expeditions Joins Mud Island as New Tenant
MEMPHIS—Mississippi River Expeditions, a professionally guided, privately-chartered canoe trip company, has announced its new headquarters on Mud Island.
Founder Matthew Burdine has curated river trip excursions ranging from half-day or sunset to full-day excursions and camping trips for up to 50 guests. After spending almost ten years as a whitewater river guide in the mountains of Colorado, Burdine moved back south to share his love of rivers.
Burdine has been operating Mississippi River Expeditions for five years without a formal headquarters other than his canoe launch in the harbor at the Memphis Yacht Club. Now, Mississippi River Expeditions joins the immersive experience Baron Von Opperbean and the River of Time (BVO) and Mahogany Restaurant on Mud Island.
“This company was built out of passion for this magnificent river and the power of producing unique, high-quality experiences, and I’m so excited that this space will allow us to further grow that mission,” said Burdine.
To celebrate, Mississippi River Expeditions will host an event on Thursday, October 8 from 5-8 pm with live music by Alexis Jade and the Gemstones and food & beverage by neighboring business Cordelia’s Market.
“While Matthew and his team have been staunch supporters of our riverfront and mighty Mississippi, we are thrilled to make their connection official with space on Mud Island,” said Paul Chandler, Memphis River Parks President & CEO.
